Remember how it used to be? No online play on consoles, barely any good fighting games on PC — and even if there were, online modes were practically nonexistent.

For 20 years we’ve been keeping the spirit of online fighting games alive. We’ve made guides, configs, and installers. We’ve played through dozens of tournaments and ranking events, written countless posts and tutorials, and helped hundreds of players through the forum, Discord, and private messages. We’ve been supporting the FGC online since Honmaru first hit the web 20 years ago. 🌐

This year, Honmaru is back on the fighting game world map with another fresh initiative. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is Arkadyzja – retro gaming within everyone’s reach, more accessible than ever! 🤝

This is the year to celebrate the Honmaru FGC community. Nobody expected that right now Arkadyzja would take off with rollback netcode, lobbies, spectator mode, and more — Tekken 3 is back online, Tekken Tag Tournament is joining in, and tons of other titles too.

All of this exists thanks to people brought together by a shared passion. Everyone adds something different – a blend of talents from all walks of life. Working together, we make the impossible happen! Yeah, it sounds a bit grand, but hey – you don’t turn 20 every day! 🎂

Honmaru 20th Anniversary 🎂

This is part of Honmaru’s 20th Anniversary. For those interested in Honmaru’s history, check out some archived posts where you can find many interesting facts from our long 20-year journey.

Last year, Ren launched the Arkadyzja project, which revitalized Honmaru’s roots and brought us back to the retro world map with full force. Now, games from the original PlayStation and Dreamcast can support up to four players with rollback, along with modern enhancements like lobbies, chat, spectator mode, and more – features that were previously unimaginable, now at our fingertips.

The reactivation of Tekken 3 Online and other retro games, along with the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament, aligns perfectly with Honmaru’s 20th anniversary.
